Mold appearance on walls, beams, ceilings, and columns

Discover the potential causes and view the solutions
The appearance of mold in various areas of residences is primarily caused by thermal insulation problems, as well as high concentrations of water vapor generated in poorly ventilated spaces. Additionally, mold outbreaks can appear on surfaces where a permanent presence of moisture is observed.

In cases where frequent ventilation of the room is not feasible, we can install the moisture absorber WATERTRAP to prevent the accumulation of excess moisture. We clean with the special mold cleaning liquid D-95 CLEANER and paint with the acrylic paint for protection against fungi and mold BATHROOM & KITCHEN.

Walls whose exterior surface is not waterproofed, present hairline cracks, or have absorbent plaster

We apply the elastomeric waterproofing paint D-80 HYDROSTOP ELASTIC or WALL PRO NANO PAINT to ensure the waterproofing of the walls, or the hybrid acrylic-polyurethane paint DUROPAINT-PU, which provides ten times higher washing resistance compared to standard acrylic paints. Painting, thermal protection, and waterproofing of the masonry can also be achieved with the high-reflectance energy-saving paint THERMOELASTIC COLOUR.
Furthermore, an excellent solution is protecting the wall from moisture by applying the flexible waterproofing mortar WATERPROOF MORTAR, followed by painting with any of the paints mentioned above.

Lack of thermal waterproofing on the roof terrace

In this case, we must thermally insulate and waterproof at the same time. DUROSTICK recommends the COOL ROOF terrace thermal waterproofing system or the lightweight COOL ROOF LIGHT terrace thermal waterproofing system.

Masonry without thermal insulation

We apply DUROSTICK’s comprehensive thermal waterproofing and building energy upgrade system THERMOSEAL.

BASIC STAGES:

  1. Bond expanded or extruded polystyrene of the appropriate thickness to the masonry using the thermal insulation board adhesive ULTRACOLL THERMO.

  2. Next, apply the same material and embed the external thermal insulation fiberglass mesh DS-4160.

  3. Finally, plaster with the flexible, water-repellent, smooth or scratch-textured plaster HYDROSTOP PLASTER ELASTIC.

  4. Alternatively, the final coating of the masonry is recommended using the silicone paste-form plaster HYDROSTOP SILICONE PLASTER, preceded by priming with HYDROSTOP SILICONE PRIMER.
